Toaru Majutsu no Index: New Testament

Toaru Majutsu no Index (とある魔術の禁書目録（インデックス）, lit. A Certain Magical Index) is a Japanese light novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi (鎌池和馬) and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura (灰村キヨタカ). The series is published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. There are currently 34 published volumes of the novels, including 2 side story volumes. Regularly placing in the top 10 of the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings, it was named the Best Novel Series of 10 Years in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2014.

The series has produced a manga with 14 published volumes, two anime seasons based on the contents of the original novels and inspired a PSP game. The anime adaptation has also inspired an animated film titledGekijōban Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki (劇場版とある魔術の禁書目録（インデックス）エンデュミオンの奇蹟, lit. A Certain Magical Index the Movie: Miracle of Endymion) which in turn inspired a PSP game tie-in and manga adaptation with 2 published volumes.

The series has also produced a spin-off manga titled Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (とある科学の超電磁砲（レールガン）, lit. A Certain Scientific Railgun), which currently has 10 published volumes and has also been adapted into two anime seasons and inspired an OVA and a PSP game. A second spin-off manga titledToaru Kagaku no Accelerator (とある科学の一方通行(アクセラレータ), lit. A Certain Scientific Accelerator) began serialization at the start of 2014 and currently has 1 published volume. A sequel novel series titledShinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index (新約とある魔術の禁書目録（インデックス）, lit. A Certain Magical Index: New Testament) began publishing in 2011.

Story Synopsis[edit]

New Testament Logo

This series is a direct sequel and continuation of Toaru Majutsu no Index.

World War III, caused in Russia by Fiamma, the final member of the Roman Catholic Church's secret group God's Right Seat, was brought to an end thanks to the efforts of Kamijou Touma. However, he disappeared at the end of that war.

This is a world without that hero.

The magic side is being reorganized and improved, and days of rest have arrived for its believers.

In the headquarters of the science side, Academy City, Accelerator, the strongest Level 5, has cut his ties with the darkness and is now living a noisy but calm normal life with Last Order and Misaka Worst. Not a sign of Group remains.

With the material for negotiating with the darkness in hand, Hamazura Shiage, a former Skill-Out Level 0, has returned from Russia and formed a new Item with Kinuhata, Takitsubo, and the returned Mugino. They have begun their activities once more.

Those graduates of the darkness have obtained peace and quiet. That is, until the brutal Freshmen appear before them.
