Let's get on with the review then. ~

when i saw this series first time on MAL rated #1 in novel category, i became curious. I mean, is it really that good?
So yeah, i went into this series with lot of hype and truth be told, this novel exceeded all of my expectations. This is an outstanding piece of writing and a masterpiece novel, no less.

This novel goes into "cult" category, certainly. It doesnt follow any of the mainstream cliche plot we see in most novels. To say, it's a different experience. Now, it's not like HakoMari has ground-breaking concepts but, the execution is one of the best i've seen. Marvelous story telling, engaging psychological wits, romance with some realism, relatable characters and mix these all with beautiful writing, you get HakoMari.

# Plot setting :
this is certainly not the strongest point of HakoMari, yet it is. The setting for each volume is different. We see various troupes in this series like 'time loop' , 'kill or be killed',etc. Now this is nothing new but the execution is so well done that you cant help but praise it. HakaMori contains supernatural phenomena but it still gives you a sense of realism. It indeed makes you think that these things can happen around you. All in all, the plot setting is various and each time it's well executed. 9/10.

# Story
now this could be said as a strong point of HakoMari. The story moves with the characters. As i said, it doesnt follow the cliche mainstream plot of most LN's. No idiotic protagonist, no useless fanservice, etc. The protag, kazuki hoshino, is just a normal guy like you or me. He's abnormaly attached to his everyday life. And the story starts with the destruction of his everyday life. The story is well crafted, different troupes are swiftly woven.
HakoMari certainly has lots of twist and turns and the sense of mystery never fades. 10/10

# Characters
HakoMari has really good set of characters.
Kazuki hoshino, normal guy who likes his everyday life.
Maria Otonashi, the box. (yes, the box. No pun intended).
Daiya oomine, the cool smart guy, an uber realist.
Kokone kirino, girl with cheerful personality.
Haruaki usui, also a cheerful guy. Haruaki and kokone's verbal fights are famous in school.
Kosumi Mogi, an expressionless girl who also happens to be kazuki's crush.

Now when you read it, you realise there's nothing special about the characters. But that's where it matters the most.
Kazuki, for example, is very relatable to the readers. Same with other characters. When you read HakoMari, you find yourself in Kazuki. You relate to him, you cheer for him. The other characters, can be found in society around you. And that's what makes it special. Because you believe that this can happen around you, giving you a sense of realism.
Romance is there between these characters, but quite complicated. 9/10

# ART
it a sense, the art is artistic. Yep. It doesnt have illustrations of certain events, instead, it symbolicaly represents whole chapter/volume with one illustration. And that's quite catchy. The colour illustrations are beautiful as well. 9/10

# Enjoyment
it goes without saying, that HakoMari is a roller coster ride with full of enjoyment. Now, it has certain parts that will test you mentally with it's dark concepts and some quite sensetive issues. But that's just what makes it better. The psychological battles are really well written and the mystery element is always there. Rest assure, it gives you death note and kaiji vibes in some parts. It's definately a 10/10.

# Conclusion
in short, HakoMari has outstanding writing and a really well written plot with masterpiece story telling mixed with psychological wits and mystery. 10/10

definately, this is a masterpiece stuff. The way it sucks you completely in the novel is outstanding. You dont just read this book, you LIVE it.

Now every and each one of you, if you like reading, this is a must read. A masterpiece level stuff.
This series is now in my top 5 books, definately.

If you liked death note or kaiji, chances are high that you'll really like this.
